One can always expect some new innovations whenever the opponent is Fnatic ‘Tekkz’, some hidden skills unknown to the Fifa gamers, some insane moves, some pulverising finishes and all! With a mere look of a growing boy, he just decimates his opponents.
Tekkz burst onto the scene just before FIFA 18 after winning the FUT Champions Cup in Barcelona. His potential was immediately recognised by F2 Freestylers and he was roped in as their official Fifa player. But what no one expected was that he’d finish the season with a record haul of titles and be at the top of the Global Series leaderboard with more than twice the amount of points than the player in the second rank. The indisputable best in the world!
On winning the first event of the FIFA 20 season, the FUT Champions Cup in Bucharest and walking away with $50,000 in prize money plus 2000 Global Series points, he revealed that things weren’t as they seemed and that the youngster has in fact been suffering from the pressure of his unprecedented rise. However, he wanted to do away with that to change his circumstances. A new team in Fnatic and a fresh approach to how he takes on tournaments resulted in what appears to be a more confident Tekkz.
In an interview, when he was asked about pressure and how does he go about it? His calm and composed reply, “…usually at the start of the season there is very little pressure anyway. In 2018 when I won my first tournament there was literally zero pressure as no one knew who I was at that point. Then last year I didn’t really feel any pressure at the start either. It was only when I started winning more and more tournaments that I began to feel some pressure, and I didn’t like that feeling. But this year I thought if I go in with no expectations and just play then I’ll feel less pressure and when I don’t feel the pressure I play my best FIFA.” And he moved ahead from there on which is unlike anything in esports arena!
So the hunt of Donovan Hunt, aka Fnatic Tekkz towards smashing and breaking all records in Fifa continues! He is also an inspiration for millions who want to pursue esports as their career.
