Apex Legends Just Released A Trailer For Season 5, & The Changes Are Quite Surprising!

These past few months have been pretty eventful for the gaming and
E-Sports community, in both positive and negative connotations. While new video games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and VALORANT have been
announced, events like the Fortnite 2020 World Cup and Dota 2’s “The
International” have either been cancelled or postponed indefinitely. Now,
though, the Internet is ablaze with yet another exciting revelation: the “Season 5: Fortune’s Favor” teaser trailer for Apex Legends just dropped, and it’s quite flabbergasting, to say the least!

One of the most important announcements regarding Season 5 is that a new player is entering the fold. Respawn has confirmed that Loba Andrade is the next playable character for the battle royale game. Like Octane, Wattson, Crypto, and Revenant before her, Loba was datamined prior to her official reveal–leading to fan speculation that she would ultimately become a playable legend in Respawn’s battle royale game. However, there always was a nugget of doubt, given that Respawn included character files for Forge as a smokescreen to trick data miners into thinking he would be Season 4’s new character.

Loba’s abilities haven’t been detailed yet. However, on the Apex Legends website, Respawn describes the legend as “stylish, sophisticated, and resourceful, whatever Loba wants, she takes. Good luck stopping her.” Hence, her passive, tactical, and ultimate abilities could have something to do with finding and/or stealing loot–which would probably be a powerful addition to a battle royale game.

Within the most up-to-date trailer that we’ve seen so far, Respawn also gave us our first glance at the newly blown-up Kings Canyon, coupled with numerous skins that players can expect to see within the battle pass this season. Kings Canyon, Apex Legends’ original map, appears to be missing a large chunk of land this time around. The missing section of the map, which was once Skull Town, has been destroyed due to one of Loba’s misadventures (as per the story) and replaced with a new mountainside base that appears to span multiple levels of elevation.

Along with the new area of the map, it also seems that the video game is getting a new Player V.S. Enemy, or PVE, mode. The trailer teases that players will get to “uncover the mystery,” and shows players finding a treasure chest. Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment said during a blog post that this Treasure Pack unlocks weekly Hunt missions, which we can see in the trailer when a team fights off a wave of giant bugs and then escapes in a ship. This will slowly unlock a secret relic that will give players a special reward if they collect all nine pieces.

Finally, we get to see brief snippets of the latest skins for characters like Mirage and Bangalore, who seem to be receiving new outfits within this season’s battle pass. There’s also a brief clip of a player employing a very complicated-looking Wingman, which denotes that it’s likely the upgradable level 100 skin for the season 5 battle pass.

All these changes, alongside the new character Loba, will arrive when Apex Legends Season 5: Fortune’s Favor begins on May 12.
