Rainbow Six Siege Y5S2.1 update: Melusi, Ace, and Hibana nerfed

Rainbow Six Siege Y5S2.1 update Melusi, Ace, and Hibana nerfed

A big update for Rainbow Six Siege has been live this week, bringing a new feature that will smooth out unbalanced teams so you won’t have to suffer through a full match a teammate drops. Match Cancellation will be live in the Year 5 Season 2.1 (Y5S2.1) update.

In addition, the update introduces a cool new feature named match cancellation. This allows an incomplete team to vote to abandon ranked matches, absolving them of an abandon penalty and meaning they will see no impact on their matchmaking ranking. However, Ubisoft warns this option will only be available in matches that begin with uneven teams, and that if one leaves before the vote has passed, one will still be hit with abandon sanctions.

Other changes coming in the update include slight nerfs to Melusi, Ace, and Hibana, and a long series of bug fixes. Melusi is having the range of her penalty zone reduced, while Ace and Hibana’s explosives can no longer destroy fragile gadgets through reinforced walls. Melusi’s nerf is the most significant in the Y5S2.1 patch: her Banshee device now slows enemies from a shorter range than before and makes a slightly quieter sound, reducing its effectiveness.

Other than that, the update, which was supposed to be completed on June 30 at around 07:20 PT / 10:20 ET / 15:20 BST following 20 minutes of server downtime, contains a bunch of bug fixes.
