Marvel Avengers War zones analysed

Marvel Avengers War

Marvel’s Avengers is an upcoming narrative-based, action-adventure video game developed by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montréal and published by Square Enix. The game will be released for Stadia, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on September 4, 2020. The game will also be released on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X when both consoles launch, with PlayStation 4 players and Xbox One players being able to upgrade to the next-gen version for free.

In game ‘War Zones’ mode is designed in a manner that will allow you to play with your friends, complete avenger-specific missions, and also upgrade your characters over time. “The key difference between Hero Missions and War Zone Missions is that while the former tends to be story-focused and very cinematic, a War Zone is an expansive, explorable space loaded with side content including concealed caches to uncover, powerful bounty enemies to defeat, AIM depots to take over, faction allies to rescue, and hidden loot to claim. While there is a main objective in each War Zone Mission, how you choose to approach them is up to the player. If the mission objective is outdoors for instance, the heroes can approach from any direction and tackle the challenge as they see fit” explains ‘War Zones’ Director, Philippe Therien.

Basically War Zones are side missions divided into several sections. Vaults contain rewards, Villain Sectors features various Marvel rogues, and Iconic missions explore what the Avengers were up to in the aftermath of A-Day. These missions are accessed via a War Table, which can be found in locations including the bridge of the Chimera Helicarrier. The Helicarrier, where the Avengers make their base, will slowly be repaired and upgraded over the course of the game.

Players can choose to play with AI support or co-op, which allows three other players to join up. Certain characters will have special combo moves, such as Iron Man and Thor uniting for a devastating aerial attack. The new trailer features this mode in action, including characters donning different types of equipable gear. Iron Man even dons the Hulkbuster armour at one point. Further story sequences were also revealed, such as Kamala Khan and the Hulk finding a pre-recorded message from Nick Fury.
