The theme or backdrop of any title plays a vital role in setting up
an enigma for an exhilarating journey. Then comes the story that holds the
gamer on to his seat making it a gripping one!
Video game stories range from the extremely simplistic to a staggering
complex one. While early games and many contemporary ones focused on gameplay
treating the plot as a loose outline filled in by action or puzzles, some games
have tried to push the boundaries and tell emotionally drilled, cinematic
stories with elements of interactive control and player choices that forward
the storyline.
Let’s go through a list of few such notable titles with the most
vibrant and compelling storylines:
The Last of Us 2
Developer: Naughty Dog
Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment
Platforms: PS4
Release: June 19, 2020
It’s a game that follows a deep narrative just as before with our
focus around Ellie. Grown-up and living in a town that she calls her home, a
tragic event occurs turning Ellie’s world upside down. Just as she did as a
child, Ellie will have to put her life in danger in what would seem to be
overbearing odds. However, this new journey is fuelled by rage and it’s a
brutal one to endure. This is a game you’ll be gripping your controller and
sitting on the edge of your seat all the way through. After the amount of time
you spend playing this game, it’ll be hard not to get attached to the various
characters. But one needs to have a go through the previous edition as well to
get the depth!
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

search for clues to the location of Captain Henry Avery’s long-lost treasure in
order to save Sam’s life.
God of War

It began in 2005 on the PlayStation 2 (PS2) video
game console, and has become a flagship title for
the PlayStation brand. Based in ancient mythology, the story
follows Kratos, a Spartan warrior who was tricked into killing
his family by his former master, the Greek God of War Ares. This sets off
a series of events that leads to wars with the mythological pantheons. The Greek
mythology era of the series sees Kratos follow a path of vengeance due to
the machinations of the Olympian gods, while the Norse
mythology era, which introduces his son Atreus as a secondary protagonist,
shows an older Kratos on a path of redemption, which inadvertently brings the
two into conflict with the Norse gods.

excellence in storytelling!
