Fortnite is capping off its second season and beginning its third
season in Chapter #2 of the popular online Battle Royale game with yet another
major event.
Fortnite will host an event Monday that will
put an end to the game’s second season for chapter 2 and begin its third
season. The event starts at 2 p.m. ET (noon MT). Epic Games suggests gamers
show up 30 minutes early to preserve a location for the event.
An official tweet regarding the Doomsday Event via the Epic Games Twitter account reads: “The Storm rages on. Will Midas’ Machine break the Storm? The Device is set to be activated on June 15 at 2 PM ET. Space is limited! Show up 30 minutes early to help secure your spot and be there live.”
You’ll want to log into Fortnite to watch
the event first-hand. Twitch and Mixer streamers might show off the moment as
well while it’s happening. Ninja, NickEh30 and Bugha are three popular
streamers to look out for. YouTube clips will likely highlight the event later.
You may be wondering what’s going to happen
during the event itself. Here’s what The Verge suggested about the event: “Epic hasn’t said much about what’s to come,
but mysterious hatches have appeared in the water around the Agency and a large
pulsing orb can be seen in Midas’ room. It seems likely the hatches and the orb
will be part of the event in some way, but in a game that has transported
players to interdimensional realms, anything is possible.”
All we do know for sure is that the event is
a long time coming! Fortnite delayed the start of its third season multiple
times this year, as I have explained in numerous previous articles. The season
was initially expected to begin in late April, then early May, and then it was
pushed back all the way to June 4th. Then, Epic Games delayed the new season
for yet another week due to the protests going on around the world regarding
racial injustice and police brutality.
Fortnite has a long history of kicking off new seasons with in-game events. For example, the game held an event where a monster faced off with a Megazord hero. In fact, another event in October 2019 even led to the Fortnite map being sucked into a black hole! Regardless, I am sure I speak for all Fortnite players when I say I’m quite excited to see how Epic changes the game in the new season!
