Fifa 20: The matchmaking procedure

Fifa 20

Suppose someone is gearing up for a crucial game, maybe it’s the final game of the Weekend League and he has an opportunity to move up the rank. The gamer is motivating himself for 20-odd minutes of fierce concentration! Then he sees the opposition’s team, a dazzling array of icons and Team of the Year cards. It’s a team almost impossible to earn through coins alone. The game’s over before it had even begun. The victory was not priceless after all; it had a price and the opposition paid it. So ultimately it turned out to be an unrewarding moment!

So EA SPORTS has made a modification to the matchmaking system in FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT). This change was targeted to help increase the quality of online matches by updating rules around acceptable ideal ping thresholds. There have seen some initial ping improvements across matches globally, and EA SPORTS will continue to monitor the matchmaking system and make adjustments as needed. Their priority with the matchmaking system is to ensure an optimal and fair online experience. They need to then balance and tradeoff between three main factors when tuning the matchmaking: opponent’s connection quality, skill level gap and the overall time a player must wait to find a suitable opponent; each factor must be carefully weighed to maintain a well-balanced experience. They’re also looking at more ways for players to see in-game information about their connection status.

An equality should prevail; the game is getting competitive by the day and it thrives the best on equal grounds!
