Counter-Strike (CS) is one of the most popular
multiplayer, first-person shooter video games in which teams
of terrorists try to bring about destruction, while counter-terrorists try to
prevent it. The series began on Windows in 1999 with the release of
the first game, Counter-Strike. The fourth game and the latest version in
the main series, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, was released by Valve
in 2012 for Windows, OS X, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
With over a million active players playing CSGO, its a huge game and
with over 450 million esports fans worldwide, its prospect multiplies even
more! And one striking feature about CS:GO is its big tournaments in different
formats.
Big tournaments provide the ability to inspire and improve one’s
style by witnessing the incredible talents of esports athletes representing
their favourite team. Many tournaments have different formats, however, esports
platforms have data on each match and data on all teams. Most pro players do
not only use different skins to customise their characters but also to
personalise CS:GO settings. List of the most-watched CSGO tournaments are
as follows:
ESL One Cologne (506,000 viewers)
IEM Katowice (1,200,000 viewers)
StarLadder Berlin (838,000 viewers)
The viewership of these events is a clear indication of its
popularity!
The latest in game additions weren’t bad either: the two new maps,
Anubis and Chlorine, are two finalists from a Counter Strike Global Offensive
map contest named Mapcore Exotic Places Mapping Contest. Valve has also fixed
up a few minor bugs along with the new content.
The game has evolved considerably amidst severe competition but
people still miss its presence in PS4, hopefully Valve will see to it!
