Hearthstone: Taking esports to the Asian Games The Demonstration Event

From the studio that brought you Overwatch and World of Warcraft, comes HEARTHSTONE, Blizzard Entertainment’s award-winning collectable card game. One has to collect powerful cards and create fatal decks, summon minions and sling spells to seize control of an ever-shifting battleground. Chalk out a masterful strategy and defeat all players who dare challenge you!

Initially it was released for Microsoft Windows and macOS in 2014, with ports for iOS and Android releasing later that year. The game features cross-platform play, allowing players on any supported device to compete with one another, but restricted only by geographical region account limits.

The designer’s focus on the accessibility of Hearthstone for everyone, easy to use gameplay, and those short minute games made this strategy card game perfect for the duels in tournaments. Before the final version was released, Blizzard hosted an exhibition tournament featuring several well-known gamers. This made Hearthstone successful in esports with only the beta version.

But the biggest leap for the title was its demonstration event at the 2018 Asian Games which was contested on August 31,  2018. It was won by Lo Tsz Kin of Hong Kong. And the tricolour of our nation was held high by Tirth Mehta (aka Gcttirth) who came third in the event with a bronze medal!

It has also been a part of esports demonstration events at the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.

Hearthstone should continue to spread its wings roping in even more gamers in the near future!
