Being a gamer’s wife isn’t an easy task. The entire day is all about the game, “it’s always about this and that happening in random games, and how we could’ve won the game if it wasn’t for my teammates playing like noobs, and how they never follow my lead and blah blah blah…” I have to listen to tons of annoying stuff every day. I had no clue about gaming. When I first met my hubby, I had no idea that there’s a game called DOTA 2. In fact, I knew nothing about gaming or the kind of games that are out there, such as PUBG, DOTA 2, CSGO. I found out about all these from my other half.
The perspective my place or people hold towards gaming o.O
It was fine initially as I had to only listen to his banter, but suddenly he was obsessed with teaching me these different games. At first, it was PUBG Mobile. Which was alright as I found it little interesting, as most of the casual folks were into it and so was I, and found it playable to an extent. But then came in DOTA 2, I found it so confusing that I still haven’t figured what DOTA 2 is about. After which it was time for APEX LEGENDS, which again turned out to be a disaster, as I had no clue about who was engaging in a battle and from where. My first game was such an epic fail, as I wasn’t just clueless but never even got to see an opponent, yet we won. Such a legendary win.
The agreement/compromise between a non-gamer and a gamer 🙂
Eventually, with time he realized that I wasn’t interested, and has finally stopped asking me to play these games. At first, when was trying to teach me, even I felt I could pick it up and would watch and try to play these games. But since the time I’ve stopped gaming, the amount of quality time we spend has also reduced, as there are times where we don’t eat or sleep at the same time.
Horrible gaming!
Lately, he is been playing DOTA 2 or CSGO, and even sharing a room with him is a task these days as he is mostly in the game. And if a teammate doesn’t play well, his voice gets loud which startles me many a time. While in between his games, when he gives any in-game calls to his teammates, I feel like he is saying something to me. And when he games late at night, I find it so disturbing that I have started using earplugs while sleeping.
But Perhaps…
But overall I feel good even with me feeling annoyed at times, that there’s a new industry that the new generation is interested in and can find progress just like in any other corporate. And my husband is making efforts to push this industry forward to a bright future.
