Back in September 2018, When FIFA 19 came out it was by far the most hyped and talked about game in the eSports industry but slowly as everyone started to exploit the broken mechanics, the game lost its fun and got labeled as the worst FIFA in history.
EA added two new features to the gameplay : Timed finishing and Goalkeeper movement. These features were added to increase the skill gap between the pros and the casuals. The whole community was really excited to try these features out but because of the inconsistency in the mechanics, it reduced the skill gap and made the gameplay worse from previous seasons. To address the flaws in the gameplay, EA have released a number of patches till date but could never fix it. You can now score a 30 yarder without looking at the goal but still miss from two yards out , funny isn’t it?
On the other hand, there has been loads of content for the casuals to have fun only to be outdone some laziness from the content team. There have been huge promos throughout the year but what’s the point when a Billion dollar company cannot differentiate between the flags of Slovakia and Slovenia? And that’s just one of many mistakes EA have made throughout the year.
To make matters worse , to be good at the game you have to heavily invest in FIFA points. YEP, you read that right, You have to invest real money to get better at this game and gain an advantage over your opponent. With terrible gameplay and pay to win being invoved, the game loses it’s sole purpose – To have fun. Surely has to be the worst FIFA EA have released.
With that being said , there have been some positive signs and all we can do is hope that FIFA 20 is a much improved game and brings the FIFA community back to life.
