A Year ago, no one could have imagined that mobile esports can be major competitive platform to traditional PC & console gaming market. With plenty of room for innovation and increasing rate of market share in games, the mobile esports scene is poised to grow significantly in the upcoming years.
The majority of competitive players use non-mobile platforms but to boost the mobile gaming market, PUBG has hosted a mobile collegiate tournament in India as well recently announced PUBG Mobile Star Challenge which is set to take place from 29th November to 1st December at the Festival Arena in Dubai.This will definitely change this calculus significantly.
While the buzz about this happening tournament may already have reached to you,Let’s provide you official announcement & insights of this tournament held by the PUBG MOBILE project that focuses on celebrity streamers from 6 global tournament regions playing for total prize pool of $ 600,000 which will allow the winner getting contract to become an official streamer to gain exposure through the game and promotional activities on global terms.
How ‘PUBG Mobile Star Challenge’ will work :
Just like other big gaming events, this one contains several stages, and initial ones have already been started which is split into 6 regions :
- Asia
- North America
- South America
- Europe
- China
- Korea & Japan
Step 1 : Each region has a registration process followed by qualifying round in which teams will be selected based on match results.
Step 2 : After that, preliminary matches will be held to qualify for regional final where squads will play to win & for fun which will test their popularity & skills.
Step 3 : Competing over four consecutive weekends for regional final, squads will fight for the title of official streamer for that region.
Step 4 : Finally regional champions will come together to complete for the title of official streamer.
To participate in PUBG Mobile Star Challenge, players must have more than 1,000 fans or followers across specified streaming platforms .However they can form a squad of up to three other players with no specific requirements.So, one can simply participate as a team member of a streamer or to be friends with.
Note : Registration is already closed on 10th of september.
The region level rounds of the challenge have been underway for the past month and PUBG Mobile has now invited the top 20 teams from mentioned six regions to participate in the Global Finals at Dubai.
The best teams in each region which will have one regional champ gets $20,000, $15,000 to the runner-up and $10,000 to the second runner-up.
In the grand finals,the ultimate champion of battlegrounds will win $200,000, followed by the runner-up team receiving $100,000 and second runner-up with $50,000. OAs per statement released by Tencent,“winners will become an official PUBG MOBILE partnered content creator, gaining access to promotional resources for streaming PUBG MOBILE.” that means winners will get global exposure & will become official member of all-star team to represent the tournaments.
